Friday, July 21st, set an official heat record for the date in Portland--104 degrees--though in Westmoreland, THE BEE measured only 101. Hot enough! The next day, Saturday, 99 was the forecast; we measured an unusually humid 89 degrees, cooler due to the unexpected clouds which moved in, but when the clouds cleared at 6 pm, the temperature rose into the low 90's. Fewer people had shown up at Sellwood Pool on Saturday, when we took this photo, but quite a few kids and adults were splashing there nonetheless. (The unusual cloud layer is visible above the trees in the photo at right.) Under clear skies on Sunday, the humidity dropped from 90% to 29%, and the mercury hit 101.
