Grout rehearsal for citywide performance

Local school provides rehearsal venue
by: Eric Norberg,

'Alice in Wonderland' was the children's play of the 'Summer Theatre Camp mentoring program' being overseen by renowned Director Michael Wehrli, partnering with Multnomah Arts Center and Portland Parks and Recreation. The show was offered free at the Washington Park Amphitheatre July 13-18, and at Mt. Tabor Park Amphitheatre, July 20-30. The young performers came from all over the city, but rehearsals were held at Grout School on S.E. Holgate Blvd., where Wehrli teaches theater during the school year, in the literacy program. Concluding their song, shown here, are Alice, played by Maia Dooney, and Mackenzie Davis as the Cheshire Cat (in the 'tree').
