Bateman places fourth at national event

Sandy wrestler Kyle Bateman took fourth at the Freestyle Nationals in Fargo, ND, last week, finishing his 160-pound cadet bracket with a 5-2 record.
He opened the tournament with falls in his first three bouts before falling to eventual runner-up Dustin Fuller of Iowa 6-0, 4-3 in the semifinals. He battled back with a 6-0, 4-1 in the consolation round to earn a spot in the tournament's third-place match.
The tournament is played in a best-of-three rounds format.
Barlow's Mick Dougharity took fifth in the 215-pound junior bracket for the Greco-Roman tournament.
