Estacada School Board aims to fill Zone 4 vacancy this summer

The Estacada School Board seeks applications for the zone 4 board member position.

Sherri Graham resigned from the position July 14 after a two-year commitment.

'The position requires a large time commitment and preparation,' said Sabrina La Londe, executive and board secretary for the Estacada School District. She said Graham did not cite a reason for her resignation.

Zone 4 is defined as the west side of Clackamas River from Hillockburn Road through the Viola area near Redland, according to La Londe.

There are seven school board members serving four-year terms. The zone 4 appointment will fill the remaining two-year term vacated by Graham, which ends June 30, 2013.

Applications should be submitted by noon Tuesday, Aug. 9, to the Central Office, located at 255 N.E. Sixth Ave.

La Londe said candidates must be at least 18 years old, legally registered to vote and residents of zone 4 for one year immediately preceding the appointment. District or public charter school employees are not eligible to serve.

Qualified candidates are asked to appear for an interview at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10, in the high school choir room. The new board member will likely be selected that night.

Applications are available at esd108.org. For more information, call La Londe at 503-630-6871, ext. 2908.
