Obituary: Daniel Dan Axel Bushinger

Troutdale resident Daniel 'Dan' Axel Bushinger, 65, died Aug. 3, at his home. A private family service was held.
Dan was born June 26, 1941, in Fargo, N.D., to Henry and Lois (Anderson) Bushinger. He was raised and educated in North Dakota and Portland, where he attended St. Peter's School. When he was 15 years old, he moved to Baton Rouge, La.
In 1956, Dan joined the Army. He was honorably discharged in 1957, having attained the rank of private second class. He then enlisted in the Navy and was honorably discharged in 1962.
Dan earned his general education diploma in 1961, while he was serving in the Navy.
On June 28, 1984, Dan married Karen Lippert in Vancouver, Wash. He was a machine operator for Alpenrose Dairy for 31 years. He retired in 1996.
Dan was a member of the Moose Lodge and the Teamsters Union. He enjoyed playing pool, spending time with his dogs, listening to loud music and working on his cars.
Survivors include his wife of Troutdale; daughters, Linda Carrier of Happy Valley and Angela Bates of Milwaukie; son, Daniel Bushinger of Milwaukie; sister, Rose Schwanke of Portland; and four grandchildren.
