Jeremy Patrick Burrows

Aug. 21, 1985 - Aug. 5, 2006

Native Oregonian Jeremy Patrick Burrows died Saturday in his Newberg home at age 20. Cause of death was cancer, which had been diagnosed in October 2004.

The Rev. Brian Burman will officiate at a memorial service Saturday at 2 p.m. at Newberg Christian Church. A committal service will follow in Valley View Memorial Park in Newberg.

Visiting hours will be Friday from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Attrell's Newberg Funeral Chapel.

Born Aug. 21, 1985, in Portland, Jeremy Patrick Burrows grew up and attended school in Newberg, graduating from Newberg High School in 2003.

During high school he played baseball and was on the wrestling team one year.

He grew up in the Newberg First Baptist Church family. He volunteered his time to the youth groups and worked closely with the staff for the youth.

He loved being outside, riding his dirt bike, wake boarding and snow boarding and enjoyed restoring his classic Volkswagen Bug.

Saturday he married Emily Ann Cook, the love of his life since middle school.

Survivors in addition to his wife Emily of Newberg include parents Daniel and Lori Burrows of Newberg; brother Nicholas Daniel Burrows of Newberg; grandparents Pat and Jerry Barnes of Cheshire; grandmother Patricia Rybacki of Nevada; great-grandparents Lynn and Ethelma Barnes of Halsey; great-grandmother Marcella Burrows of Tacoma, Wash.; and those who have come to know and appreciate his courage, strength and the way he gave to others.

Glenna Satterlee

Feb. 25, 1925 - July 30, 2006

Glenna (Pat) Satterlee, a resident of Tigard since 1999, died July 30 at age 81.

Mrs. Satterlee, whose maiden name was Wall, was born Feb. 25, 1925, in Kalama, Wash.

She graduated from Seattle University.

In 1951 she married Charles N. Satterlee.

She was a junior high school teacher in Kalama for 23 years before retiring to Pacific Beach, Wash., in 1982.

Surviving in addition to husband Charles are son Kevin and two grandchildren.

A graveside service was held Friday in Kalama Cemetery in Washington.

Evelyn H. Ackroyd

April 17, 1922 - July 29, 2006

Evelyn H. Ackroyd, 84, died July 29.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Aug. 19, at 2 p.m. in Trinity Evangelical Church in Tigard.

Miss Ackroyd was born April 17, 1922, in Centralia,Wash., and moved to Portland as a child. She graduated from Girls Polytechnic High School and was an entry key operator for Portland General Electric for approximately 40 years.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Donations in memory of Evelyn N. Ackroyd may be made to Trinity Evangelical Church, 10900 S.W. 121st Ave., Tigard 97223.

Arrangements were handled by Springer and Son.

Maggie Carrasco

March 25, 1946 - Aug. 4, 2006

Maggie Carrasco, a recent resident of Tigard, died Friday at age 60.

Born Maggie Smith on March 25, 1946, in Cheyenne Wells, Colo., she moved to Aloha in 1988.

She was a designer for Interior Motives.

Survivors include sons Tony and Marty; brothers Marvin Smith and Wayne Smith; sisters Connie Smith, Vonda Moreno and Sharon Schrag; companion Tim Pieri; plus five grandchildren.

A celebration of life service was held Wednesday in St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Beaverton.

Donations in memory of Maggie Carrasco may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Young's Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Vendella M. Goldstein

May 24, 1925 - July 24, 2006

Native Oregonian Vendella M. Goldstein died July 24. The resident of Tigard since the 1980s was 81.

She was born Vendella M. Roseberry on May 24, 1925, in Springfield and was reared in Tillamook. She lived briefly in Guam before moving in the late 1950s to McMinnville, where she and her husband, Abe Goldstein, whom she married in 1952, owned the Furniture Mart for 30 years. Mr. Goldstein died in 1994.

Survivors include sister Patricia Burkett; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by son Raymond McManus in 1995.

A gathering will take place Saturday in Summerfield Clubhouse in Tigard.

Donations in memory of Vendella M. Goldstein may be made to Mount Hood Kiwanis Camp.

Rebecca Caroline Steele

Feb. 25, 1922 - Aug. 4, 2006

Rebecca Caroline (Carrol) Steele died Friday at age 84.

A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in Zeller Chapel of the Roses.

She was born Rebecca Donnell on Feb. 25, 1922, in Winnett, Mont., and graduated from high school in Silverton.

In 1941 she married Robert L. Steels.

She was a homemaker who had lived in Portland, Tigard and Canby.

She was a seamstress and beautician.

Survivors in addition to her husband Robert include sisters Jean Nelson and Jewell Healy; and brother Niles Donnell.

Donations in memory of Rebecca Caroline Steele may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

Ruby Garnet Hepburn

July 1, 1924 - July 22, 2006

Ruby Garnet Hepburn of Beaverton died July 22 at age 82. Cause of death was cancer.

A service of remembrance will take place Monday at 2 p.m. in Christ United Methodist Church, 12755 N.W. Dogwood St., in Cedar Mill.

Mrs. Hepburn, whose maiden name was Wallander, was born July 1, 1924, in Stockville, Neb. She moved from Nebraska to Portland in 1935 and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1941.

In 1946 she married Donald Hepburn.

They resided in La Grande from 1955 to 1967 and then moved to Beaverton.

A homemaker, Mrs. Hepburn was also a cook for 15 years for the Beaverton School District.

Surviving in addition to her husband Donald are son Bruce Hepburn and daughter Mary Prescott.

Memorial donations may be made to the Ruby Hepburn Memorial Fund, c/o Christ United Methodist Church, 12755 N.W. Dogwood St., Portland 97229.
