Gresham resident Kyle Jacob Riedel, 15, died Wednesday, Aug. 9, in an accident on the Deschutes River near Bend. A celebration of life will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, at Mountainview Christian Church, 1890 N.E. Cleveland Ave., Gresham.
Kyle was born Sept. 20, 1990, in Portland to Fred and Koni (Kitz) Riedel. He was raised and educated in Gresham, where he attended Gresham High School.
He was involved in a number of different activities at the high school and was looking forward to serving as the sophomore class vice president. Kyle sang in the choir, played saxophone in the band, played soccer and was on the track team. Last year he was an alternate at the state track meet for the 1600-meter relay.
Kyle was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where he was part of Genesis, a musical youth group. He enjoyed basketball.
Survivors include his parents of Gresham; sister, Kristi Riedel of Gresham; brother, Gavin Riedel of Gresham; and grandmothers, Olga Riedel of Gresham and Bernice Kitz of Port Angeles, Wash.
