Longtime Troutdale resident Elta Marie George, 73, died Sunday, Aug. 13, in Troutdale. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, at City Bible Church, 9200 N.E. Fremont St., Portland. Private interment will follow at Willamette National Cemetery, 11800 S.E. Mount Scott Blvd., Portland.
Elta was born Jan. 14, 1933, in Portland to Arch and Mildred (Lasene) Lowe. She attended Kennedy Grade School and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1951.
She married Gene Morey at the Portland Air Force Base on March 1, 1952. They later divorced. She later married Lee George Jr. He preceded her in death.
Elta was an artist who worked mainly with oils and watercolors for 40 years. She owned an art studio on Sandy Boulevard for two years. She sold and donated many of her pieces.
Elta lived in Troutdale for 30 years.
She enjoyed gardening, painting and traveling to Europe with her friends.
She was a member of the Oregon Artist's Society and City Bible Church in Portland.
Survivors include her sons, Michael Morey of the Philippines, Steven Morey of Rhododendron and Kenneth Morey of Bend; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
