Longtime Gresham resident Arthur 'Arland' Capelle, 59, died Saturday, Aug. 12, in Vancouver, Wash. Visitation will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16, at Gresham Funeral Chapel, 257 S.E. Roberts Ave. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 18, at Gresham Funeral Chapel.

Arland was born July 30, 1947, in Portland to Arthur and Jacqueline (Miller) Capelle. He graduated from Gresham High School in 1966.

He married Sharon Burton in Vancouver, Wash., in 1967. They later divorced.

Arland worked in shipping and receiving for Hickory Springs. He was promoted to a company sales representative.

He enjoyed his pilot's license and working on restoring Stearman airplanes. He also loved Corvettes and was an active member of the Rose City Corvette Club.

Survivors include his sons, Brian Capelle of Gresham and Kevin Capelle of Canby; and five grandchildren.
