East County resident Burnis McClanahan, 84, died Monday, Aug. 14, in Gresham. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, at Gresham Funeral Chapel, 257 S.E. Roberts Ave. Private interment will be at Sandy Ridge Cemetery in Boring.
Burnis was born on May 7, 1922, in Brighton, Colo., to Lester and Mary (Retallack) Goff. Her family relocated to Portland, where she was raised and educated.
She married Walter McClanahan in January 1941 in Portland. Burnis was a homemaker.
The family moved to the coast and returned to East County in 1956.
She loved to paint, crochet and shop at garage sales.
Her husband preceded her in death in 1991. Survivors include her daughter, Ilene Benz of Portland; sons, Larry McClanahan of Milwaukie, Mike McClanahan of Sandy, Raymond McClanahan of Tualatin and Daniel McClanahan of Sherwood; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
