Multnomah Falls hosts art festival

A two-day art festival featuring artisans from throughout the Columbia River Gorge will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 26 and 27, at Multnomah Falls.

On display will be watercolor paintings, oils, pottery, photos, jewelry and sculpted art work.

In addition, Multnomah Falls Lodge will host a barbecue on the lower plaza, featuring chicken or ribs, corn on the cob and potato salad for $7.95 and strawberry shortcake for $3.

The event is a first for the Friends of Multnomah Falls. Money raised will help the organization purchase educational and interpretive materials for visitors.

Also, the U.S. Forest Service will lead free 30-mintue hikes to Benson Bridge, educating hikers on human history, geology and the plants and animals of the area. The friends group will host children's activities throughout the two-day festival, which is intended to showcase gorge artists.
