Gresham resident William 'Bill' A. Chesterfield, 60, died Saturday, Aug. 12, in Norwood, Mass. A celebration of life was held Friday, Aug 18, at Persimmon Country Club in Gresham.

Bill was born July 11, 1946, in Townsend, Mont., to Paul and Bertha (Mackey) Chesterfield. He was raised in Manhattan, Mont.

He continued his education at Montana State University, in Bozeman, Mont., and graduated with a bachelor of science degree in psychology. He later graduated from the University of Montana, in Missoula, Mont., with a bachelor of science degree in education and a master's degree in business administration.

Bill served in the Air Force for four years during the Vietnam War. On July 13, 1974, he married Corinne Kluwer in Missoula, Mont. They made their home in Missoula but moved to Gresham in 1986.

He taught school in Clinton, Mont., drove a logging truck, worked at a lumber mill and was a bartender. In 1986, Bill took a job with Ameriprise Financial as a senior financial adviser.

Bill served on the Mountain View Federal Credit Union Board of Directors for many years and was a member of the Financial Planning Organization of Oregon and Southwest Washington. He was recently nominated to the Mt. Hood Kiwanis Camp Board.

He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, hunting, fishing, visiting Glacier National Park and spending time with his granddaughter.

Survivors include his wife of Gresham; sons, Brian Chesterfield of Gresham and Eric Chesterfield of Sandy; brother, Burton Chesterfield of Oklahoma City; and one granddaughter.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Diabetes Association. Bateman Carroll Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
