Robber with knife strikes

Police are investigating an armed robbery at a Subway shop on State Street, where a man armed with a six-inch folding knife is said to have stolen about $200 late Tuesday.

The man reportedly entered the shop at 101 State St. at about 8:45 p.m. and put a knife to the waist of a 22-year-old clerk there, who was working alone.

'He had a bag with him and he gave it to the clerk and said, 'Fill it up with money,'' said Capt. Mike Hammons of the Lake Oswego Police.

'They make drops periodically in the evening so there's never a lot of money. He didn't much care for that,' Hammons said.

He said the suspect fled the scene on foot. He is described as a white man in his 20s, five-feet, five-inches tall, medium build with blue eyes.

He wore a white hooded sweatshirt, white shorts and white shirt with blue stripes and covered his face with part of his shirt.
