Beaverton police host National Night Out

Community will gather Tuesday for crime-prevention celebration

The Beaverton Police Department invites the public to gather together Tuesday night from 6 to 8 p.m. in Beaverton City Park, 12600 S.W. Fifth St.

Beaverton is joining communities across the country in hosting National Night Out events.

National Night Out is a unique crime- and drug-prevention event sponsored by law enforcement agencies and the National Association of Town Watch. This free "celebration of community" has proven to be an effective and fun-filled affair used to promote neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships in an ongoing fight for a safer nation.

The Beaverton celebration will offer neighbors a fair-like atmosphere featuring free food, games and more. The Beaverton Police Department's K-9 Unit will put on a demonstration.

Vehicles from the Beaverton Police Department and Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue will also be on display, while Tualatin Hills Park and Recreation will have its Rec Mobile available for fun activities for the kids in attendance.

Radio Disney will also provide entertainment.
