cross country -- Girls finish third, boys eighth at the race in Champoeg
Banks' girls cross country team posted a solid third-place finish on Thursday at the North Marion Invite in Champoeg.
The Lady Braves had three runners finish in the top 15 to give the team 94 points, just three ahead of fourth-place Kennedy. La Salle finished first with 76 points, followed by Heritage with 79.
Kelsey Taylor was the top individual finisher for Banks, claiming seventh place with a time of 22:56. Kaula Wall and Alicia Reaser posted identical times of 24:10 to take 12th and 13th place, respectively.
Other top finishers for Banks included Erin O'Mahony (30th), Christy McCarthy (33rd), Jessica Selfiason (36th) and Audrey Estes (45th).
On the boys side, Banks took eighth place out of 12 teams, finishing with 276 points. McKay won the team title with 34 points, followed by LaSalle (61) and Kennedy (72).
James Reaser led the way for the Banks boys, finishing 42nd with a time of 21:09. Tim Hitchen took 53rd with a time of 22:22 and Brad Brekke was 57th in 22:50.
Other finishers for Banks included Ammaron Gibson (60th), Franky Debreu (64th) and Matt Cutone (65th).
The Braves will be back in action on Thursday at the Trojans Relays in St. Helens.
