The Central Catholic boys soccer team stayed in first place in the Mount Hood Conference with a 2-1 win against Barlow on Thursday afternoon.

The Rams (8-0-1) scored the game-winner with 3:42 left in the first half when Troy Bratten made a run down the left side, and passed across the field to teammate Antonio Madeddu, who beat the goalie with a low shot into the middle of the net.

'I saw him guarding the near post, so I just placed it across the goal,' Madeddu said. 'Going into halftime with the lead gave us control.'

The Rams packed the defense through the final 40 minutes, limiting Barlow to a handful of shots out of the midfield. Two sailed off target, while the final chance ended in an easy save by Central goalie Ben Summers.

After giving up an early goal, Barlow tied the score in the 13th minute when Alberto Frasco collided with a crowd of players 10 yards out, but managed to send a shot into the left side.

In other Mount Hood boys action, Centennial got two goals from Michael Hopp to beat Sandy 2-0.
