MBank names new vice president

Merchants Bancorp, principal subsidiary for Gresham-based MBank, today announced the promotion of Vicky Mills to vice president and director of compliance, reporting to bank President Tom Perrick.

'Vicky's legal acumen has won her the respect of her colleagues, federal and state regulators and other top companies in the industry,' Perrick said. 'I'm excited about the opportunity we'll have to rely on her skill and dedication as we address new challenges and opportunities in the years ahead.'

In addition to compliance, Mills will continue to serve as the company Bank Secrecy Act officer, Community Reinvestment Act officer and will oversee the internal auditing department, ensuring MBank's compliance under rapidly changing bank and consumer protection laws.

Last November, Mills was awarded the Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager designation from the Institute of Certified Bankers, fulfilling the work experience, education, ethics and examination requirements to earn the accreditation.

Mills frequently speaks at both public and internal forums on issues related to identity protection, privacy and online security issues. As an influential member of the Oregon Bankers Association, Mills was recently invited by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation to attend the Anti-Money Laundering seminar, where she represented community bank BSA officers as a panelist.

Mills also serves as president of the Sandy Mountain Festival Association and is a second vice president of the Kiwanis Club of Sandy.

Commission candidates speak at breakfast forum

Multnomah County Commission District 2 will be represented by a new commissioner. Will it be Lew Frederick, director of public information for Portland Public Schools or Jeff Cogen, chief of staff for City Commissioner Dan Saltzman?

The two candidates will answer questions and debate at the Columbia Corridor Association's monthly breakfast forum, from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25, in the Embassy Suites Hotel Portland Airport, 7900 N.E. 82nd Ave., Portland.

Networking event will be Nov. 15 in Portland

Michael Macedonio, co-author of 'Truth or Delusion?: Busting Networking's Biggest Myths,' will be the keynote speaker at a networking event and book signing, from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15, DoubleTree Lloyd Center, 1000 N.E. Macedonio is the president and managing partner of the Referral Institute and a former BNI director. Truth or Delusion is co-written with BNI founder, Ivan Misner, Ph.D, and Mike Garrison. In their book, the authors lay out the ground rules for effective networking and examine 49 dictums business professionals commonly use to describe their referral marketing strategy.

Insurance agent raises money for cancer research

American Family Insurance agent Matt Moffat is selling limited edition University of Oregon LiveStrong baseball caps to benefit cancer research. The caps sell for $20. Proceeds will be divided equally among the Lance Armstrong Foundation, Oregon Health and Science University Cancer Institute's Adolescent and Young Adult cancer program, and the University of Oregon Institute of Molecular Biology.
