When, where: 6 p.m. Saturday, PGE Park
Radio: KTRO (93.1 FM)
Notes: Portland State cornerbacks Odell Jackson and Dominic Dixon, both about 5-9, have a tall order this week. Idaho State's corps of receivers includes 6-4 Clyde Logan and 6-3 Dane Simmons. 'I would assume our corners are going to get tested, and tested strongly,' PSU coach Tim Walsh says. … The Bengals (2-3, 1-1) have the Big Sky Conference's leading rusher in Josh Barnett, a 5-11, 180-pound junior. He is averaging 6.6 yards per carry and 126.2 yards per game, which ranks eighth in the nation. 'I think it's the best defense in the conference versus the best offense,' Walsh says, ranking the Viks first on defense. 'Idaho State's skill position players are the best in the league. They're also very athletic up front on offense and strong and tough on the defensive line.' … Sawyer Smith will start at quarterback for PSU in his second game back from a hip injury. 'He's much healthier than he was last week,' Walsh says. … Walsh says the Vikings have responded well in practice since their 14-0 loss at Montana State last Saturday. 'Their attitude has been phenomenal,' he says.
