The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will commemorate Oregon Trail Day at Bonneville Lock and Dam on Saturday, Nov. 18.
Costumed park rangers will perform a living history re-enactment of immigrants reminiscing and telling their stories upon arriving in Oregon after a long difficult journey on the Oregon Trail at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. on the third floor of the Bradford Island Visitor Center in the Main Theater. A short movie about the Oregon Trail will follow each presentation.
While at the dam, visitors can also stop by the Oregon Fish and Wildlife Fish Hatchery to catch a glimpse of Herman, the 10-foot-long sturgeon.
The Bonneville Lock and Dam Visitor Center, located off Interstate 84 at exit 40, is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For information on this and other events, contact the Bradford Island Visitor Center at Bonneville Lock and Dam at 1-541-374-8820, or visit https://www.nwp.usace.
