The Sandy City Council unanimously voted to vacate its existing right-of-way on Bell Street to make room for a future high school at the site.

The undeveloped roadway would have bisected the school district's property, but the new road will curve around the future school. Although residents of nearby Coralburst Street don't like the idea of a road coming up behind their homes, the city has vowed to work with those homeowners to address their concerns. The right-of-way switch wouldn't take effect until a new right-of-way is dedicated and when two nearby streets are extended to intersect with Bell.
