Party to help children in need

For the ninth year in a row, Boys and Girls Aid's summer fundraising event is planned to be an extravagant party. And this year, its organizers are moving the party from a private estate in the Stafford area to the Oregon Golf Club, located at 25700 S.W. Petes Mountain Road in West Linn.

The 21-and-over event, called Sultry Summer Nights, will take place on Saturday from 5:30 p.m. to midnight. Dress in 'casual resort attire - a fun sun dress or something you'd dance in in Miami,' said Laura Graham, communications coordinator with Boys and Girls Aid.

The event will feature a happy hour with entertainment from local band Cloverdayle, a dinner featuring Northwest cuisine and dancing demonstrations, an auction featuring items to bid on such as a Disneyland vacation. And Graham described two lounge dance areas - one ice-themed; one fire-themed.

Volunteer Mike Thayer of West Linn said, 'With such an amazing group of people who have helped organize this night it should be an evening to remember.'

Proceeds from the night will benefit the children served by Boys and Girls Aid, which helps to find permanent homes for children and youth.
