Two male students at West Linn High School fell from the auditorium stage into the orchestra pit just after noon Tuesday, according to West Linn-Wilsonville School District Director of Operations Tim Woodley.

Dispatchers at the 9-1-1 center in Lake Oswego received a call at 12:12 p.m., and West Linn police officers were the first to arrive and offer emergency care to the youths while medical personnel were traveling to the high school.

One of the boys was not seriously injured, Woodley said, but the other suffered serious injuries - at least a broken leg. The youth was being treated at Oregon Health Sciences University Hospital, and no further information was available.

At press time, Woodley and risk management personnel were still gathering information about the incident. There apparently was no adult supervision in the area at the time of the incident, Woodley said, and the students were not supposed to be on the stage.

Also at press time, school officials were meeting to decide what new restrictions or procedures might be needed to prevent such an occurrence in the future.
