Next: The Winter Hawks (4-7-0), who won on the road for the first time Sunday at Chilliwack, will play two home games this weekend - Kamloops at 7:30 p.m. Friday and expansion Chilliwack at 5 p.m. Sunday, both in Memorial Coliseum.
Tribune player of week: Big Frazer McLaren, 19, busted out with three goals - two on the power play - in Sunday's 6-4 win at Chilliwack. Coach Mike Williamson has lauded his work in front of the net, especially on power plays. The 6-5, 230-pound McLaren had briefly attended the camp of the Los Angeles Kings, and he played in his 200th career game Friday.
It's official: Portland has the youngest team in the Western Hockey League, with 13 players 17 years old or younger. It doesn't bode well for winning much this year, but 'I think they can be competitive,' Williamson says. 'I can't say we're just building for years to come, but it could be the start of a pretty good group down the road.'
