Braves falter against Cheesemakers
football -- Tillamook scores 28 unanswered points in the second and third quarters against Banks
Tillamook picked up its first Cowapa league win of the season on Friday night against Banks, scoring six touchdowns in the first three quarters to cruise, 42-14.
Tillamook (2-6, 1-2) opened the scoring with a 3-yard touchdown run by Jeremy Coon in the first quarter and Banks evened the game at 7-7 on a 15-yard scoring strike from Gabe Linehan to Josh Marsh. Unfortunately, the visiting Cheesemakers would rattle off 35 unanswered points to run away with the game.
Banks (0-8, 0-3) scored on a 67-yard pass play from Linehan to Alden Bayless late in the fourth quarter to cap the scoring.
Tillamook capitalized on three Banks turnovers in the first half to build a 28-7 lead at the break. After a Banks fumble, the Cheesemakers traversed a short field and took the lead for good on a 2-yard plunge by Coon. Blaise Bennett tacked on scoring runs of 32 and 14 yards to give Tillamook a three-touchdown lead at halftime.
The Cheesemakers put things away in the second half, beginning with a 17-yard touchdown pass from Jake Pugh to Treve Widmer. Bennett scored on a 7-yard run later in the third quarter to make it 42-7.
Banks has a tall order this week, traveling to Scappoose (6-2, 2-1) to battle the seventh-ranked Indians.
