Tree of Remembrance tradition continues at Attrells

Because the holiday season can be especially painful for those who have experienced the death of a loved one, the staff of Attrell's Sherwood Funeral Chapel is planning its tenth annual "Tree of Remembrance" observance.
The 'Tree of Rememberance' helps families establish a holiday tradition that will recognize, and pay tribute to, special family members or friends.
Anyone who has experienced the death of someone close to them, whether recently or years ago, here or elsewhere, is invited to bring a special ornament in memory of their loved one.
Beginning Friday, Nov. 24, ornaments may be placed on the "Tree of Remembrance" between 10 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. daily, Monday through Saturday.
Hangers with special nametags will be attached to the ornaments before they are hung on the Tree. Traditional glass ornaments are also available at the Chapel for use by any who wish.
Ornaments stored at the Chapel from previous years will be placed on the tree only after a family member has called to make this request.
A dedication of the "Tree of Remembrance" honoring those whose names are on the ornaments will be during the "Time of Remembrance" program on Sunday, Dec. 3 at 4 p.m. A guest speaker will present helpful suggestions in regards to grief and the holiday season. A time of fellowship will conclude the program.
The "Tree of Remembrance" will remain in the chapel through Friday, Dec. 30 to provide people the opportunity to come by as often as they wish. During the week between Christmas Day and New Year's Day, people may come in and pick up their ornaments or they can be stored at the Chapel for use in future years.
