Fenton and Hakala
Joshua K. Fenton, son of Thomas and Pamela Fenton of Troutdale, graduated from the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps Leader Development and Assessment Course, at Fort Lewis in Tacoma, Wash.
During training he learned about aspects of military life, administration and logistical support. Cadets in their junior and senior years of college must complete the leadership development course. Upon successful completion of the course and graduation from college, cadets are commissioned as second lieutenants in the U.S. Army, National Guard or Reserve.
Fenton is a 2003 graduate of Reynolds High School. He is a student at Truman State University, Kirksville, Mo.
Troy L. Hakala, son of Mike and Leanna Hakala of Gresham, graduated from Officer Candidate School at Fort Lewis, Tacoma, Wash., and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Army National Guard.
During training, he received instruction in leadership, combined arms tactics, weapons defense, discipline, and physical training and conditioning.
Lieutenant Hakala will serve as a member of the Oregon Army National Guard. Hakala has served in the military for nine years.
Hakala is a 1990 graduate of Gresham High School, and received an associate degree in 2002 from Mt. Hood Community College.
