Sandy broke loose with four goals in the third period, led by Mason Taylor, who hit a shot with 1:32 left in the period, giving Sandy a 6-5 lead they'd never surrender.

The Pioneers went on to build a 10-5 lead in the fourth period before Gresham goalie Sam Luty beat the buzzer with a cross-pool shot.

'It was a good game,' Sandy coach Bobby DeRoest said. 'At least the second half was good.'
