A special walk to school
On Wednesday, October 4th, a number of schools in the metropolitan area participated in the annual 'Oregon Walk + Bike to School' day, and in Inner Southeast Portland, the observance was at Ardenwald School, just south of Johnson Creek Boulevard.
Students, teachers, adults, city officials of Portland and Milwaukie, a police escort fore and aft, and a fire truck bringing up the rear paraded from Lisac's Stove on S.E. 32nd east on Wake Street to Ardenwald School at 7:40 am.
The event is staged to encourage children to become more physically active and healthier by walking, skateboarding, or riding bikes and scooters, and to help focus on safety as they travel to school.
