SHS changes football attendance policy

Because of safety issues involving elementary and middle school students at home football games, Sandy High School recently implemented new policies regarding football game attendance. Elementary and middle school students will not be admitted to home football games unless accompanied by an adult who is responsible for the child's behavior. The expectation is that the students will sit with their adult supervisor and watch the game.

The following behaviors will not be allowed and the student will be subject to removal from the game: playing or throwing footballs, riding skateboards or bicycles, inappropriate displays of affection, profanity, running through crowds, running or rough housing on the hill and other behavior deemed inappropriate by administration and security personnel.

'We regret having to implement this policy,' states a school district memo, 'but the current atmosphere makes us fearful that someone is going to be seriously injured.'
