Boys beat Stayton, but need and dont get Molalla help

by: Clinton Vining, Estacada's goal keeper saves a Stayton shot on goal during the first half of Estacada's victory.

The Estacada boys did their work last week, but they needed help from Molalla to make the Capital Conference playoffs.

The Estacada High School boys' varsity soccer team beat no. 6-ranked Stayton 5-3 on Wednesday at Buzz Randall Field.

Estacada's junior forward Mike Ellis definitely did his part in fighting for the fifth league playoff spot. He scored four goals and had the assist in the Rangers' fifth, scored by sophomore forward Nelson Paz. Jordan Nation scored, too.

The Rangers won, to finish the season 4-8-1 in the conference and 7-8-1 overall. To earn the final playoff spot, Estacada needed Molalla to either lose or tie Cascade. The Indians were playing the only team not to win a league game all season and won 7-1, ending the Rangers season.
