Class of '06 wins Beaverton alumni hoop
The Class of 2006 ruled at the third Annual Beaverton Boys Basketball Alumni Tournament, held at Beaverton High School on Saturday and Sunday.
The Class of '06 - led by tournament MVP Paul Noonan - won four straight games to take the tournament title, winning the championship over the Class of 2008.
Some 100 alumni participated in the 12-team field, with each of the past 15 seasons represented. The tournament raised more than $1,500 for the program.
Mike Hood and Scott Boardman (Class of '98), Brad Krichevsky ('04), Mitch Rice ('06), and Ryan Meehan ('08) were named to the All-Tournament team by head coach Erik Lathen and former coach Nick Robertson.
Ryan Menten ('99) won the 3-point shootout for the second time in three years.
Aloha grad Sarah Bain honored at Dominican
Sarah Bain, an Aloha High grad who just finished her sophomore year as a setter on the Dominican University of California volleyball team, was recently named to PacWest Academic All-Conference Team.
Bain played in 63 sets and 27 matches, and was second on team in assists per set (4.25).
Silver Bullets set tryout dates
The Oregon Silver Bullets will be having tryouts for its 10U team (for players born in 2001 or 2002) from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, and from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
All tryouts will take place at Westview High School on the varsity field. The team will consist of a few returning 10U players from last year's team and several new players.
This team will be coached by one of the existing 10U coaches and a former Oregon Silver Bullet 18 Gold coach.
