Suspect charged with setting neighbor's car on fire Wednesday

Beaverton police arrested a 45-year-old Beaverton man Friday linked to setting a car on fire in his apartment complex.

The car fire was reported at 1:25 a.m. Wednesday in the 9000 block of Southwest Allen Boulevard.

Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue and the Beaverton Police Department responded to the scene.

Initially, an TVF and R fire investigator told police he was not sure how the fire started and was equally uncertain about whether or not the car had been set on fire intentionally, said Det. Pam Yazzolino, Beaverton police spokeswoman.

As the investigation continued, the arson investigator ruled the fire was indeed intentional.

Police detectives continued the investigation, and Friday afternoon arrested 45-year-old Joseph Olin Taylor, who lives in the same complex as the owner of the incinerated vehicle.

"The two have had ongoing disputes over the years as neighbors," Yazzolino said.

Taylor was lodged in the Washington County Jail on second-degree arson, first-degree criminal mischief and reckless burning charges.
