A man in his 70s was severely burned Monday morning in a cooking fire.
Portland Fire and Rescue said the man, whose name was not released, suffered third-degree burns on about 50 percent of his body in the accident shortly after 8 a.m.
The man is being treated at Legacy Emanuel's Burn Center, where he is in critical condition.
Firefighters were called to the man's apartment at 4938 S.W. Barbur Blvd., No. 8, to fight a cooking fire. Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the stovetop.
Investigators have not determined the cause of the fire.
