Three missing life vests were returned to the rental kiosk at Hagg Lake this week, shocking Ken Bilderback, the volunteer public information officer of Gaston Rural Fire District. The district manages the kiosk, erected by local Eagle Scout Kyle Giesbers in 2009 with financial help from a number of community organizations. But since it's been built, vests have gone missing. In 2010, a donation from a couple who lost their son, Jim and Diana Endicott, helped replace the missing vests. But thefts or carelessness has been emptying out the kiosks since then. But maybe that trend is over: Bilderback said along with three missing vests were three more vests, added by a mystery donor.
