During Thanksgiving week, Metropolitan Family Service joined thousands of people and organizations across the United States to celebrate National Family Week.

The organization's mission is to strengthen families and individuals while enhancing their participation in community life. MFS called upon members of the National Charity League of Lake Oswego to assist them with preparations for the week's celebrations.

NCL is an organization dedicated to fostering the mother-daughter relationship through philanthropic service. Members Colleen Hefferman, Tricia Hefferman, Maddie Ingram and Patti Ingram assembled Thanksgiving baskets for distribution to low-income families. The baskets included nonperishable food items, a gift card to Fred Meyer, suggestions for family activities and a calling card for long-distance connections with family members.

For information about how you can make a donation to support local National Family Week activities, visit MFS online at or call Darcie Esch at 503-232-0007.
