Crossroads Lecture features Civil War history

The public can hear about Oregon's role in the 1860s-era conflict

The monthly Crossroads Lecture at the Washington County Museum will feature a talk by an expert on Civil War history.

Set for next Wednesday, Aug. 17 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the museum on Portland Community College's Rock Creek campus, 17677 NW Springville Road in Portland, the Crossroads series will bring Oregon's Civil War history alive.

Steve Betschart of the Northwest Civil War Council will present highlights of the 1st Oregon Volunteer Infantry, basic military functions, some artifacts, the local political climate and Oregon's Union status at the time.

Admission is $3 per person, and the lecture is open to the public.
