student-athletes honored by nwc

A total of 71 Pacific University student-athletes have been honored for their high academic achievement with selection to the 2010-11 Academic All-Northwest Conference Team.

Over 800 student-athletes were selected to the squad, which is comprised of athletes in the conference's 18 championship sports. In addition, men's and women's at-large teams honor those who participate in non-conference sponsored sports, including wrestling and women's lacrosse.

To be eligible for the Academic All-NWC Team, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher and have been on the team's roster throughout the season.

In total, Pacific had at least one representative from all of the school's 21 varsity teams.

Men's track and field led Pacific's team representation with eight athletes making the academic squad. The women's track and field team was next with seven representatives. Football, women's soccer and women's lacrosse (as part of the women's at-large team) had six representatives each.
