For his Nov. 4 birthday, Mitchell Faris, age 8, decided to give a gift instead of asking for some of his own. Mitchell asked his 20 birthday party guests to make a donation to the Senior Center. He had been to a party where the host also asked for a charitable donation, so Mitchell decided to do the same. He raised $250 for the Senior GAP (Guardianship Assistance Program), which helps to stop elderly abuse. 'He has several older people in his life. He just thought it would be nice to help them,' said his dad Geoff Faris. He is pictured with his dad and Lucy Warren, Senior Center director. 'It's a wonderful gesture... to have respect for the elderly community at such a young age,' said Warren. 'I think we can all learn a lesson from that.'
