Construction on Sunset Drive in Forest Grove began Tuesday, Dec. 5.
County officials said installation of sanitary sewer facilities between Beal Road and University Avenue will cause up to 20-minute delays throughout the next two months. Flaggers will control traffic in the work zone, but county officials encourage motorists to use an alternate route (Thatcher to Northwest Purdin Road or the Highway 47 bypass).
Washington County voters approved funding for the Sunset Drive project in May 1995 as part of a larger street improvement program.
The road, which links downtown Forest Grove with Highway 47, will become the city's main northern entrance.
Improvements will include two travel lanes, a center turn lane, sidewalks, bike lanes, streetlights, planter strips and intersection improvements.
