Mysterious death of boy caused by asthma

Asthma caused the mysterious death of a 17-month-old Gresham boy in October, according to his recently released final autopsy.

Liam H. Belyea died of natural causes on Tuesday, Oct. 17, due to 'changes of reactive airway disease,' or asthma.

Paramedics were called at 12:37 p.m. to an apartment complex in the 800 block of Northeast Kane Road, on a report of a boy who was unconscious and not breathing. Paramedics rushed him to Legacy Mount Hood Medical Center, where doctors pronounced the boy dead.

His autopsy performed the next day was ruled inconclusive because medical examiners were unable to determine the cause of death without more investigation.
