Boy reunited with mom after car theft
A little boy is with his mother after a thief stole the car the boy was strapped into.
The 4-year-old was left buckled into a car seat in the backseat of an off-white 2006 Ford Taurus. His mother, a 29-year-old East County woman, left the engine running as she dropped something off at Su Casa, a store off Southeast 162nd Avenue and Division Street at 1:40 p.m. Monday, Dec. 11, said Sgt. Brian Schmautz, Portland police spokesman.
When she left the store, her car and son were gone. Almost immediately, citizens reunited the two after the suspect dropped the child off at a nearby gas station.
Schmautz said the woman was very embarrassed, but police did find her car early Tuesday, Dec. 12, in an apartment complex parking lot at Northeast 103rd Avenue and Prescott Street.
