Hoodland Fire Board members beat recall

Board halts chief search, gives Mic Eby the job

Hoodland Fire District board members Shirley Dueber, Bob Reeves, and Roger Edwards narrowly survived a recall vote that would have removed them from their positions. Voters submitted 1,003 ballots, with 52.5 percent in favor of retaining Dueber, 52.45 percent for Reeves, and 53.11 for Edwards.

"I'm just happy now that the fire department can continue with their normal business," said Edwards.

As votes were being tabulated Tuesday night, Dec. 12, the fire board decided to discontinue its search for a new fire chief, naming Acting Chief Mic Eby to the position.

Eby, originally unwilling to take the top job, will decide whether to permanently take the job after a self-imposed six-month trial period.
