• OSU defensive coordinator Mark Banker takes issue with the criticism levied at the Beavers by fans after the team's 2-3 start.
'I don't think any college players should be subjected to hometown fans coming down on them as hard as our fans came down on some of ours and made it personal,' Banker says. 'But our players didn't let it bother them. They had a belief in themselves and hung on every word Mike (Riley) had for them.'
• Missouri runs a spread offense, with its quarterback, Chase Daniel, always in the shotgun. The base formation is empty backfield with four or five wideouts, though the Tigers will also use one or two remaining backs. Daniel, a 6-0, 225-pound sophomore who was named second-team all Big-12 in his first year as a starter, completed 271 of 423 passes (64.1 percent) and set school records for passing yardage (3,197) and touchdowns (26). He had only 10 interceptions and ran for 393 yards and four TDs.
'I liken Daniel to (OSU redshirt QB) Lyle Moevao,' Banker says. 'He's very athletic, has a bounce to his stride, and he can pass..'
