Would you like to be a student columnist for the Tidings?
The West Linn Tidings is seeking four high school columnists from West Linn High School for the 2011-2012 school year.
Columnists will write columns on a rotating schedule - about once every three to four weeks. Columnists are expected to generate original column ideas and adhere to strict deadlines.
Columnists should use their writing to provide a window into the high schools, offering insight into what is going on in the schools as well as student perspective on local and national events.
Columnists are not paid. They are expected to love writing and have a distinct point of view to express.
To apply for these positions, send your name, year in school, which school you are attending, address, telephone number and a short biography (emphasis on short) to the Tidings. Please also submit a sample column (about 550 words) on a subject or issue of your choice as well as a list of two other ideas you could foresee writing about in the future.
Interviews for finalists for student columnist positions will be held later this summer.
For more information call 503-635-8811, Ext. 109.
Applications must be received by Monday, Aug. 22.
