Robert Kristan of West Linn died Aug. 8, 2011, at Tanner Springs Assisted Living Center. He was 89.
He was born in Oregon City March 14, 1922, to Jacob and Lucy Kristan.
He was raised in Brush Prairie and Camas, Wash., and attended Camas High School. During World War II he served in the Army.
On Sept. 8, 1951, he and Betty were married at Blessed Sacrament Church in Portland. They moved to West Linn in 1952.
Mr. Kristan was a machinist for 42 years with Crown Zellerbach before retiring in 2004. He attended Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church and was a member of Knights of Columbus and Oaky Doaks Square Dance Club. He enjoyed coffee with his retirement buddies several mornings a week.
Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law Kathy and Scott Buttles of Lake Oswego and Carol and Ken VanDomelen of Portland, his son and daughter-in-law Ken and Michelle Kristan of Milwaukie, his sister Vera Watson of Oregon City, 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his sister Eva.
Visitation is at Holman Hankins, Bowker and Waud Funeral Home, 715 7th St., Oregon City. A service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 15, at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 650 A Ave., in Lake Oswego. Interment will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery on Stafford Road in Lake Oswego.
Al Watkins, a longtime resident of Lake Oswego and West Linn, died Aug. 2, 2011, after a long battle with stomach cancer. He was 65.
He was born July 31, 1946, in Port Jefferson, N.Y. After serving in the military, Mr. Watkins worked in the food industry for 35 years, first with FMC Corp. and later retiring from Urschel Laboratories.
He is survived by his wife Jean, his son Greg, his daughter and son-in-law Amanda and Jonathan Graham, a grandson, his mother, sister and brother.
Services have been held.
Lynne Odell-Schmeck of Mesa, Ariz., died July 25, 2011, after a 10-year battle with breast cancer. She was 67.
She was born May 17, 1944, in Eugene, Ore., the daughter of Lenn and Elaine Davis.
She attended South Eugene High School and Oregon State University.
Mrs. Schmeck lived in Lake Oswego for 25 years.
She was branch manager at Lincoln Savings and Loan in Lake Grove and retired in 2001 as financial manager at Breslin Pontiac Buick in Portland.
Survivors include her husband Albert Schmeck of Mesa, her son Brian Odell of West Linn and her sister Deanna Edge of Eugene.
A memorial service has not yet been scheduled.
