Oregon State has added four verbal commitments, including a pair of JC cornerbacks, bringing its list to 18 players.
Aaron Miller, 6-2, 205-pounder from Fresno (Calif.) City College, and Edorian McCullough, 6-0, 190, from City College of San Francisco, have committed. Miller intercepted six passes and returned two for touchdowns last season.
Miller's teammate, tailback Nate Wright, and Lake Oswego receiver-linebacker Kevin Maher also have indicated they will sign with the Beavers. The 5-10, 180-pound Wright led Fresno with 677 yards on 102 carries. The 6-2, 210-pound Maher will visit Hawaii this weekend but is expected to sign with OSU.
OSU coaches hope to sign about 25 players. Earlier reports that a pair of Hawaian players have committed Ñ defensive tackle Tyson Aluala and cornerback Al Afalava Ñ are erroneous. Both are considering OSU but have not made a decision.
All current commitments are believed to be solid except for Kevin Lopina, a quarterback from Concord, Calif., who is also considering Kansas State, and deep snapper Mark Sunga of Sherman Oaks, Calif.
The Beavers still feel good about their chances on several Hawaiian natives, including Afalava, receiver Spencer Hafoka and offensive tackle Ikaika Aken-Moleta. They continue to recruit three defensive linemen from College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita, Calif. Ñ David Stanton, Dennis Ellis and Tomi Halai Ñ along with receiver Ruben Jackson from CC of San Francisco. The Honolulu Advertiser has reported that Halai has committed to Hawaii and Aken-Moleta to San Diego State.
