Coaches to convene for baseball events
Baseball enthusiasts from throughout the Northwest and Canada will be on hand for the fourth annual Northwest Baseball Coaches Convention this weekend.
The event is Friday through Sunday at the Holiday Inn in Wilsonville, 24525 S.W. 95th Ave. Registration is from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday. The first of the clinics for high school, college and summer youth coaches and others will start at 6 p.m. Friday.
Featured presenters include Dave Brundage, the former Oregon State star who was Baseball America's minor league manager of the year in 2003 as skipper of the San Antonio Missions; Marty Lehn, Canadian national team coach; Don Freeman, USA national youth team coach from Prairie High School; and Pat Bailey, George Fox University coach.
On Saturday night, Baltimore Orioles third base coach Tom Trebelhorn will host an event titled 'Where the Game Takes Us.'
The convention will end with a college fair from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at which high school players and their parents can visit with college coaches from numerous Northwest schools.
