April Victoria Smith and David Edward Strickland announced their engagement.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Amber Marie Smith and the granddaughter of Vickie and Dennis Hill of Battle Ground, Wash.

April graduated from Battle Ground High School in 2006 and from Oregon State University in Corvallis in 2011.

The groom-to-be is the son of Rob and Linda Strickland of Gresham.

David graduated from Barlow High School in 2007 and is a student at Oregon State University.

The couple plans to marry Thursday, Aug. 18, at Vista House in Corbett.
