Gresham man robbed while sleeping in his car
A Gresham man was rudely awoken at about 4:50 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 14, when a man broke into his Ford Explorer, stealing a laptop and cell phone.
The 41-year-old victim was asleep in the vehicle when the unidentified male in his 20s tried to open the car door. Realizing someone was in the car, the suspect told the victim he was just 'checking' on him. The suspect then broke a small window on the driver's side, reached in and removed the victim's laptop and cell phone.
The victim fought with the suspect over the property, making the incident a robbery. Able to recover the laptop, the victim said he was going to call the police. The suspect then brandished a knife and threatened to hurt the man before running away.
The victim received a slight cut on his hand from the broken window during the struggle.
The suspect is described as being approximately 6 feet 1 inch tall, weighing around 175 pounds and wearing blue jeans and a gray button-down shirt.
