Interpretive center celebrates Tillamook Burn forest restoration
Events honor one of largest-ever forest reclamations
Learn about the inspiring reforestation of a large swath of northwest Oregon - which became the Tillamook State Forest - in a weekend celebration at the Tillamook Forest Center.
They're calling it Return from the Burn.
On Saturday and Sunday, August 20 and 21, the forest interpretative center will offer special guests to tell the story of what's known as the Tillamook Burn, a series of devastating fires beginning in 1933, and the community-wide reclamation effort that ensued.
Special guests involved in the restoration effort will be on hand, as well as Smokey Bear. The interpretive center is located near milepost 22 on Highway 6, between Forest Grove and Tillamook.
